We want RollStill to work for everyone who runs a business, including people who use a screen reader, the keyboard instead of a mouse, larger text or reduced motion. Our goal is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA for the RollStill app and these web pages.

How we check

Automated checks with axe-core on every screen of the app, in light and dark mode, and on our sign-up pages. Our test suite also re-checks the app's color contrast every time it runs, so a fix can't quietly come undone.
A screen reader: we went through the app's setup and main screens with NVDA on Windows, fixed what it found, and checked again.
The keyboard: we check that the app's controls can be reached and used without a mouse, and that focus moves to the right place when a step or a dialog changes.
Small screens and zoom: the app's window and the phone and tablet screens reflow at 320 pixels wide, the same as 400% zoom, without sideways scrolling.

Known gaps

These are the things we know aren't right yet:

The floating orb on the desktop moves and shows small lightning effects. You can hide it or turn it off in Settings or from its right-click menu. The orb inside the app's window stays still when Windows' "Animation effects" setting is off; there isn't a separate switch for it yet.
Some error messages show in a pop-up that a screen reader reads out, rather than next to the field they're about. In setup, focus moves to the field that needs fixing.
Not tested yet: the setup program with Windows Narrator, and the phone and tablet screens with VoiceOver on an iPhone or iPad.
No one who uses a screen reader every day has tested RollStill yet. We'd welcome that, and we'll fix what they find.
